im gonna come back and edit in sources but i think yall get the gist of what im going for without them

There’s a difference between how a character is portrayed compared to how a woman acts and the core of this is agency.

The character can only do what it’s told to do but a woman can act of their own volition.

Also there’s a difference between having sexualized woman characters be so common that they’re almost the norm (which is absurd) and an actual person deciding their own bodily autonomy.

See this is the point in this inevitable discussion that i will never understand

You are arguing over the bodily autonomy of fictional creations as if it bears any relevance to the real world, as if their lack of autonomy affects–or relects– the autonomy of real women. It doesn’t. So why even bring it up? It’s not like artificial representations of women hinder women’s rights, or even act as a mouthpiece for women. They’re just characters in a book, or game. They are representations of the creators fuckin imagination.

So really this stupid fucking argument boils down to how some creators imagine women, and how they choose to portray them in their media. Which, even after all is said and done, is up to audience interpretation anyway. The creator may have intended to make the character sexy. Some individuals don’t read the character that way. Surprisingly, people have different opinions about what constitutes as sexy or whatever. Even more shocking is that i believe creative entities should be allowed to think and draw and write whatever they want without being strong- armed by a bunch of backwards teens with chips on their shoulders that they don’t have any real problems to worry about, throwing big baby tantrums because their perception of the world has been challenged by people who are more talented and creative than they are

In short, this logic you’re using is stupid and you’re stupid by extension for using it

I wonder why men don’t get offended and outraged over all the super attractive and hot men in video games hmmmmmm.

So for those who haven’t read it yet. Here’s the post from the battle.net forum:

So I wanted to start off by saying, I think the development team has done a pretty great job with the cast of female hero’s in Overwatch. They are diverse, interesting, and compelling. From Mei to Zarya to Widowmaker the female cast reflects a large spectrum of personalities and player fantasies.

With that being said, lets talk about Tracer. From a marketing standpoint, she’s the star of the show. She’s a great hero. When we look at the way she’s portrayed in promotional media, lore, and art in game we know a few things about her..

    She’s Fast.
    She’s Silly.
    She’s Kind.
    She’s a good Friend.
Her body seems to be comprised of about 95% spunk.

Almost all of her art reflects this. She’s got cool skins: http://static.mnium.org/images/contenu/actus/Overwatch/Heros/overwatch_skin-tracer_11_hd.jpg

    She’s got fun poses:
    http://cdn.blizzardwatch.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Tracer_waving_header.jpg

    She’s got amazing victory animations:
    https://youtu.be/MFbXd3KIvhQ?t=224

All of this art reinforces the great character you’ve built around tracer.

Then out of seemingly no where we have this pose:
    http://overwatch.blizzplanet.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/tracer-victory-pose-2-over-the-shoulder.png

WHAT? What about this pose has anything to do with the character you’re building in tracer? It’s not fun, its not silly, it has nothing to do with being a fast elite killer. It just reduces tracer to another bland female sex symbol.

We aren’t looking at a widowmaker pose here, this isn’t a character who is in part defined by flaunting her sexuality. This pose says to the player base, oh we’ve got all these cool diverse characters, but at any moment we are willing to reduce them to sex symbols to help boost our investment game.

Getting art into a triple A game isn’t a small task, it has to go through an implementer, a team lead, an art director, and a creative director. This is a team effort. And I believe the team is responsible for upholding the great example overwatch can set to the rest of the industry for creating strong female characters.

I have a young daughter that everyday when I wake up wants to watch the recall trailer again. She knows who tracer is, and as she grows up, she can grow up alongside these characters.

What I’m asking is that as you continue to add to the overwatch cast and investment elements, you double down on your commitment to create strong female characters. You’ve been doing a good job so far, but shipping with a tracer pose like this undermines so much of the good you’ve already done.

Okay, so first of all; this is an optional pose; meaning one does not have to use it. If they don’t like it. As far as I know, you don’t even have it at first. You can unlock it in game, and even then, you are not obligated to use it. However this individual couldn’t bear the idea of someone else looking at Tracer’s ass, simply because they don’t want to.

Because obviously a character cannot be both fun and sexually attractive. Or she can be, but don’t you dare bring attention to this fact. Its like these people think of characters as the fairies from Peter Pan. They can only have one personality trait, and nothing else. Of course interestingly enough, nobody complained about Winston being both smart and strong yet, because the only thing that’s shameful in this modern, open-minded, and not at all puritanical group, is sexuality.

Of course this is just another example of how SJWs say that they don’t want to ban things in games, and then they continue to get things banned, both in gaming and in other mediums.

And what SJW post wouldn’t be complete without a “think of the children” paragraph about a competitive shooter game. Because as usual, killing others is fine in a game, but I swear to god, if I see the silhouette of a single butt cheek, I will unleash the fury of a thousand Sarkeesians on your ass, Blizzard!

And since Blizzard wants to play it safe, they naturally removed the pose, because god forbid anyone find a character that they designed to be sexually attractive, sexually attractive.

But of course we all know what the proper response to this would have been. And it isn’t removing the pose, rather providing a similar pose for all the other characters. To be honest, that’s the kind of response I’d expect from the Blizzard I used to love. Something witty and kind of cheeky. Something that answers the question of equal treatment in an original, and kind of unexpected way.

But I guess I expect too much of them. And it’s not like this is a huge issue. And that’s also what the press says about this. I keep seeing articles, talking about how people who defend the pose make too big of a deal out of it. But who was it again who made an issue out of this to begin with? Yeah, that’s a bit more convenient to leave out, or ignore, isn’t it?

  • Most Phone Calls To Lesbian Helpline Are Men Looking For Lesbians →

    female-only:

India’s first helpline for lesbians was created by the Indian Community Welfare Organization.

The helpline was started because same-sex attraction is largely taboo in a country where male-female marriages are often arranged.

The helpline is manned by lesbian volunteers, but most of the callers have been men asking for phone numbers of lesbians, noted the Daily Mail

if anyone asks why I hate men, this is it

    image

    yeah, fuck men.

eric joshua: assumes that 1) a solitary lesbian would be willing to have sex with a horny man (i.e. he has not in his entire pathetic excuse of a life grasped the actual meaning of lesbian) or 2) that any two or more random lesbians would be willing to have sex with each other for the benefit of a horny man

lesson: men are lesbophobic and dumb as rocks garbage

I just realised that, as much as I liked my Swedish sex education, I don’t recall it every touching on the topic of homosexuality (or even bisexuality). But at least it was a sex positive course. Unlike the sex negative on I had here in the UK, and the sex negative courses I heard are held in US school.

That said: it might lend its way to men being under the impression that homosexual women which be interested in a man because of all the bisexual pornography these men have been consuming, and led to believe holds some credibility. After all, when porn consumers only have each other to relay with, misinformation is bound to solidify. Since these men were never explicitly taught (sexuality is not common sense, any more, thanks largely to religion and cultures condemning the “wrong” sexualities) that homosexuals don’t fancy people of the opposite sex, they think it simply doesn’t exist and that homo/bisexuality is merely the added attraction to the same sex as well. Porn would make this seem perfectly reasonable – and many other things that porn has led you to believe, which the porn actors and actresses would be the first to tell you is not true at all.

I am probably over-thinking this. But I’d like to think educated men (and women) would know that a homosexual member of the opposite sex would not find them attractive, nor want to entertain the idea of sex with them. Either way, I still find it humorous that someone could be so daft as to think “I am the exception,” when told “no you would not be able to.” Humorous, and incredibly sad. Mostly sad, actually.

Just want to slide in here and say that back when I was in school we had a sex-ed teacher who did talk about sexualities but she was a ultra-liberal or some shit since she claimed that two men having oral sex was not gay… so yeah. Got to love living in Absurdistan.

The brown tiddie is so cute honestly but I can’t with the butt tightening

So penises and hands usually have the dumb look? Gotcha

It’s a little too direct and it’s specifically oriented towards males. This one here is much better as it goes to express it in broader terms.

Silly Äppelknekten, men can’t get raped or harassed just like non-whites can’t be racist.

srs tho I like this tea video, quite clever but as is expected from the brits.
